Hot or Not?

Oh my gosh you guys....I just freaked out! I look AMAZING today. I mean, I am beautiful all of the time, but I put extra effort in today. No reason in particular, just for fun. I wore my sexy coat, my smokin' hot FMB (black boots), and snake skin skirt. I know, I know... but don't hate ok?
Anyway, I've gotten TONZ of compliments at work today and I feel like the rock star that I am and every time I look in a mirror my self-esteem sky rockets, but that got me thinking. Remember that friend of mine? The "Everyone's Friend" guy? He thinks he's good looking and actually told me so....but he's SOOO not. Sad. But what if he's not the only one? Do ugly people know they are ugly? If they don't then is it possible **gasp** that I could be looking in the mirror grateful and feeling totally blessed with a face and bod like mine and BE TOTALLY WRONG!?!?!? I quickly asked my co-worker who assured me that this was NOT the case with me.
Still though....I was scared for just a milli-second.
Whew!

Awkward Moment

Lynne and I were at a party on Saturday. We had a great time and things seemed fine until it was time to leave. Lynne walked to her car, and I was escorted to mine by that guy she told you about. The one who is everyone's friend, but no one wants to date. Anyway, he walks me to my car and then asks me out. Like Lynne, and every other girl I know, I am not interested in him. He's a great guy. Really spectacular. I am just not interested. He totally caught me off guard. I've never even hinted that I might be interested in him, so I'm not sure why he felt encouraged to ask me out, but he did, and it left me stunned and searching for a gentle way to let him down and not create an awkwardness in our friendship. Seeing no other way out, I accepted. We're going out to dinner this week. I'm hoping he realizes after spending some time with me that I'm not what he's looking for, because I can tell you with no degree of uncertainty that he is NOT what I'm looking for.
Wish me luck!

Everyone's Friend

After FHE a bunch of people went over to Katie's house for dessert. As it usually happens, the conversation turns to dating, which means someone is complaining about being single. We're all in the same boat. Single and wanting to marry. But here's a room full of available men and woman who don't want to be single, but are. So why don't they date each other? One guy in particular stood out to me. He's everyone's friend. Every guy in the valley knows him. He's a good, spiritual guy, with a great sense of humor, well liked by everyone one, but still single. And he's got a ton of female friends, and I've heard him express interest in several girls, but never once heard of him going on a date with them. And to be honest, I don't know any girl who wants to date him. What I HAVE heard is, "I think Jack's a great guy.... BUT I'm not attracted to him." And I totally understand. Jack IS a great guy. One of the best. But not really that cute. But I've seen other less the smokin' hot guys with personalities equal or less to that of Jack's date and marry beautiful girls, so why is Jack still single? And why don't these girls who say Jack would be perfect if he was better looking give Jack a chance?
And while we're on the topic I have to confess I've thought the very same thing. I think Jack is AWESOME....but would never go out with him cause I'm not attracted to him. I'm not shallow though. I've gone out with some Brad Pitt look-a-likes, but I've also dated people closely related to Cousin It so it's not that I'm being unfair. But the attraction has to be there....doesn't it? Shouldn't we be wildly in love with, and "hot and sticky" attracted to the one we're with? Can you develop that attraction to a less attractive person over time? I don't know. I don't want my babies coming out looking like they're not done baking. I want a beautiful baby. Not a sea monkey. Is that so wrong? I've got to consider the gene pool I'm drawing from here before I make any eternally binding decisions. Don't looks factor in?
