Whoever said men don't gossip must not know any men. Jane and I were sitting in a hot tub full of a bunch of guys who brought up the subject of dating and their best and worst dates. I was loving it. Jane and I smiled our "sneaky smile" across the spa at each other both knowing we were mentally taking notes. Poor guys. They had no idea they'd be the sources for my next few posts.
This date happened to a friend of one of my hot tubing friends. They guy met this great girl and asked her out on a date. He really, really liked her and wanted to impress her so he went all out. He took her to an expensive dinner and to see Pavarotti. After the show they went out on the town and he ended up buying the girl several gifts that he saw her admiring. He must have spent at least $600. I know it sounds like a lot, and it absolutely is, but he was pretty well off and really wanted to impress this girl.
After the date he never saw her again. She never return his calls or texts. This all happened in March.
One month later this poor schmuck's friend is out in AZ visiting family and runs into an old high school buddy of his. His friend introduces him to his fiancee who just happens to be the same girl that blew his buddy off. It turns out the girl and his high school friend have been engaged since February. She went out on that expensive date in March. It's now April. The wedding is in June.
I'm not sure how to feel. That girl sucks for cheating on her fiance and using the schmuck for an expensive date. But that schmuck is an idiot for spending so much money on a first date on a girl he barely knows. And I REALLY feel sorry for her fiance who has no idea.
