I like classic movies. You have Greg Peck or Audry Hepburn and I'm sold. I also love all things Hawaiian. So, word leaks out and I have "John" calling me up asking if I'd like to watch Breakfast At Tiffany's and have some Chicken Katsu at his place. I'm recently out of a pretty long, serious relationship, (which I'm NOT over) but I say yes because, well, it's Breakfast At Tiffany's, and if a guy wants to pay for my dinner who am I to deny him the privilege? Plus, if I am ever gonna get over my ex I have to start dating again. So I go to John's. He has the Hawaiian food and downloaded the movie. I was thinking, "How thoughtful of him to make the effort to find out what I like and spend the date doing something tailored to me?" So John totally scores points here. But then he tries to snuggle and kisses the back of my head while I'm trying to move away from him....ummm...HELLO!!! I JUST got out of a relationship. My heart is in pieces and he's trying to move in for the kill already!?!? Loses points. Way too aggressive. And clearly NOT reading the "Stay an arm's length away from me" signs I was sending out all night.
So the next day I hang out with my friend Megan and she starts asking about my evening. I tell her about my date with John. Apparently she went out with him too! Only he picked her up and brought her a rose! I had to drive to his place and I got rice and a downloaded movie! My ego is mildly bruised as it seems he spent a little more money on her, but since I don't really like him, I'm not too hurt. Megan and I even laugh about it.
Later that evening I'm at a little dinner party and run into Jane. She and I aren't friends at this point, but we are acquaintances so we start into the small talk. It turns out that she spent the day on a date with John snowboarding. Wow! Not that I care, since I'm not into him, but I'm a little surprised. He took all 3 of us out!?! He finally confessed to it about 2 weeks later.
None of us are seeing John anymore.
The 3 of us are now great friends.
I guess we owe John a big fat THANK YOU!
